Patchwork - Blue Forest Window

This weekend I stitch a lot! I sew the borders on my "Blue Forest Window" as you can see and it is ready to "sandwich" it. Only do not know what will be the back, but I am not in a hurry.
Este fim de semana cosi bastante! Coloquei o bordo à volta painel "Blue Forest Window" e já está pronto para fazer a "sandes". Ainda não sei o que colocar para as costas mas, não tenho pressa.

We lost contact with a friend of us about five years ago. I tried to contact them several times but I got no answer so I gave up. Three months ago one of their daughters phoned to my husband. It was quite a surprise... followed by bad news: her brother had a car accident and their mother is in a wheel chair.

Eu e o meu marido perdemos o contacto com um casal anosso amigo aí à uns 5 anos. Por várias vezes telefonei mas nã obtive reposta por isso desisti. Há 3 meses atrás uma das filhas deles telefonou para o meu marido. Foi uma surpresa... seguida de más notícias: o irmão dela tinha tido um acidente de carro e a mãe tinha ficado paralisada estando numa cadeira de rodas.

In one of Angie's class the ladies made a Rail Fence table runner and I thought this could be the right pattern to quilt and to offer to my friend: you see, we have fences and "fences" in our lifes and this quilt represents the fences that we build or lay them down.For the colours I choose green for hope, red for life and the the flowers means that you are alive. For the borders, the nineteen different colors represents the colours of life.

A holiday is coming and I will work on it again.

Numa das aulas da Angela o trabalho que estavam a fazer era um Rail Fence table runner e pensei que este seria o padrao certo para um quilt e oferecer à minha amiga: é que nós temos vedações e vedações na nossa vida e este quilt representa as "vedações" que construimos ou derrubamos. Para as cores escolhi o verde para a esperança, vermelho para vida e as flores representam que estamos vivos. Para a cercadura, as 19 cores diferentes reperesentam as cores da vida. Com um feriado à porta vou trabalhar mais neste quilt.

Sacred Art - Registos e Capelas

This image is "Nossa Senhora do Almortão", one of my handmade pieces and my favourite and I put it in my bedroom. You know, I bougt the image two years ago - quite a long time - but only last summer I made it. The blue is very beautiful along wiht the gold and the back, I used a velvet paper because I couldn't find a fabric like this. look. (This is called chapel - capela).

Esta Capela é de Nossa Senhora do Almortão, uma das peças que fiz e das minhas favoritas e coloquei-a no meu quarto. Comprei esta estátua há uns dois anos - à bastante tempo diga-se de passagem - mas só no verão passado é que eu a coloquei na capela. O azul juntamente com o dourado fazem uma combinação muito bonita e para o fundo, usei papel de veludo uma vez que não consegui arranjar um tecido desta cor e padrão.

This one is "Santo António" and I do not know why but I like this saint! It was the firts time that I tried to do quilling ..... and after a lot of #%/]?#${ I did it!!! But it took me ages to do it perfectly!
With the flowers I had a litle help from my daughter and in the end she was very proud of her work - she's only 11 years old! (This is called "registo" - record(?!) - does anyone knows the right term for it in english?)
I have to made one "registo" for her bedroom since she ..... sometimes is a great help for me! But I don't know when because patchwork is an addiction!

Este Registo é de Santo António e, não sei porquê mas é um santo de que gosto bastante! Foi a primeira vez que tentei fazer filigrana em papel (quilling) .... e após várias tentativas e muitas #%(@ consegui!!! Mas levei quase uma eternidade para que saísse perfeito! Nas flores tinha uma ajudinha da minha filha e no fim, ela estava muito orgulhosa do resultado - ela só tem 11 anos! Será que alguém sabe o termo correcto em inglês para "registo"?

Tenho que fazer um registo para o quarto dela uma vez que.... bem às vezes é uma grande ajuda; não sei quando uma vez que o patchwork tornou-se um vício e tenho que também fazer as lojas.

Patchwork - Double irish chain

It has been a week since I started my blog but time is not enough for everything.

This is my double irish chain quilt that I am doing on the PIP. All the ladies helped me to pin it ad it is so big that we used the floor.I started to quilt it but I haven't decide what to do in the white you see, this is for my 4 years old son. Mean while something will come up! I am very satisfied with it, this is my first big project and, with a normal sewing machine to quilt it....!

Já passou uma semana desde que comecei este blog mas, o tempo não chega para tudo. Este é o meu Double Irish Chain que estou a fazer no PIP. O pessoal ajudou-me a colocar os alfinetes para fazer a "sandes" e, como era tão grande, tivemos que fazer no chão. Já comecei a acolchoar mas ainda não me decidi o que fazer na parte branca porque, este quilt é para a cama do meu filhote que tem 4 anos. Mas no entretantos algo irá surgir! Estou bastante contente com este quilt uma vez que é o meu primeiro grande projecto e, tendo uma máquina de costura normal para fazer o acilchoado.....!

For the back I used stripes with the same colors as the front.

Para a parte de trás usei um tecido às riscas com as mesmas cores que o estampado da frente.

This is the block star that I made for Vicky. Angela had the idea: each of us (the PIP ladies and the IWP ladies) would make a star block (using only whites and blues) to offer to Vicky. Now I can't wait to see the final work!

Finally we all can see that this is a window!

My husband asked me if I was gonna put it on a window! I looked at him and ... said "this is a quilt!"

I named it "Blue forest".

At the beginnig I wanted to put some bears (white bears) on it but the girls said (LOL) that there was no bears on a forest! Well, ok not white but, brown bears live in the forest and ... I only have got white not brown bears. Now what I'm gonna do with those bears?

Decorative Painting - Pintura Decorativa

"Harp Angel" by Nancy Lensky - This is the first angel thah I painted (wood/fabric) a couple of years ago, in Ana's class. It was quite a challenge! One of these days I will have to paint another one because I promised to my cousin Cristina I would paint one for her (she has choosen one). It will not be for her birthday - in May - but only for Christmas. But first I have to finish the cat with the red fish. Just sign it and varnish it...oh! I hope this weekend!?

"Harp Angel" de Nancy Lensky - Este foi o primeiro anjo que pintei à uns anos atrás numa das aulas da Ana. Foi um grande desafio! Um destes dias terei de pintar outro uma vez que prometi à minha prima Cristina que lhe pintaria um (que ela já escolheu). Não será para os anos delas - em Maio - mas para o natal. Mas primeiro tenho que terminar o gatinho do peixe vermelho, assina-lo e envernizar...oh! será que consigo neste fim-de-semana?!

The beginning! - O Princípio!

Finally I have my blog and, I have no clue how it will come together...and I work in informatic! My new hobby is patchwork so, with my husband digital camera (I hate it, I prefer the traditional) I will take pictures from my work and share with you. And of course I will have space for my patchworkers friends: from the PIP, Angie our master and Paula along wiht the class ladies.
Finalmente já tenho o meu blog mas não faço nenhuma ideia de como irá ficar...e sou eu uma programadora! Tenho oum novo passatempo que é o patchwork e, com a máquina fotográfica digital do meu marido (do qual eu não gosto, prefiro a tradicional) irei tirar fotografias do meu trabalho e partilhá-las convosco. E é claro que também háverá espaço para as companheiras do patchwork: do PIP, Angie a nossa mestre, a Paula e a sua loja com o pessoal das aulas.
